Team Telefónica clinched their third victory from three legs in the Volvo Ocean Race on Saturday, as less than nine hours separated the top five teams at the finish of the 3,051 nautical mile (nm) second stage of Leg 3 from the Maldives to Sanya in China.

Afrodite Kyranakou and Jeske Kisters of Netherlands held onto their top position and became the Women's Junior World Champions with a small margin over the defending champion Annika Bochmann with Elisabeth Panuschka of Germany. In the Mixed/Men's fleet the Italian crew Simon Sivitz and Jas Farneti cemented their dominance of the regatta with a second placing behind New Zealand's Gareth Moore and Ben Goodwin.
